Progress!
1 Week Later
A new year marks a fresh start for my writing journey. Last week, I posted my first blog in a long while—a step towards reviving this website, this blog, and my long-standing dreams. Becoming a better writer is one of my greatest goals, and the only way to achieve that is to write. Who knows if anyone will read or care about these weekly reflections, but what does it hurt to try? Each week, I’ll share what I’ve been working on to advance my content and dreams, and offer insight into my process.
Procrastination
For a long time, at least the last 20 years of my life, I have always had a problem with procrastination. It was always too easy to put something off till the very last minute and then rush to get it completed. I would eventually get the stuff completed. One thing I didn't procrastinate on was my streaming career and journey, well, that's not entirely true, maybe a half-truth. There were always a million things I wanted to do with streaming, but I never got them all implemented. Even if I had implemented a lot of what I wanted, there was still stuff I always put off. Be it because it was hard, or I was wrapped up in my own head, or I just put it off, I procrastinated. Hindsight is 20/20, though, and I see a lot of the areas in my life that have suffered over the last few years. In an attempt to read more this year and improve myself, I picked up "The Procrastination Cure" by Damon Zahariades. At 150 pages, it was a relatively quick read, but the book had many great points and good suggestions for beating that procrastination monster. I would say I'm trying to put what I learned in the book to practice, but you know the saying, do or do not... yes, I'm an old nerd. So, I am doing what I learned from the book. I'm tackling things more instead of putting things off till later. I would highly recommend picking up a copy here if you find yourself procrastinating too much.
Site Maintenance
I have done some maintenance on the website here. I have cleaned up and added all missing VP Photos for the last year. I also added a couple of playlists to the video section to reflect some of the more recent series. I have removed the Guide section because I never got to all the guides I wanted to, and that information would now be very outdated. That section might return in the future if I can hire a writer or two for it. Additionally, I'm planning to resume posting reviews and will announce when that begins. Stay tuned for further updates as new features and sections may be added based on available resources.
Youtube Vids and Streaming
This week, I just finished posting my No Commentary playthrough of Dragon Age: The Veilguard series. Make sure to check out the playlist here. All likes, comments are greatly appreciated!
Next up will be a commentary-filled playthrough of Horizon Forbidden West. A couple of other games I have to spend some time in and get videos out for are "Enshrouded", "Floatsam", "Anno 117", and a few others. Return date is still up in the air for streams, but they will be coming. I will also be multi-streaming on a couple of different platforms when I do so. Stay tuned!
Next Weeks Plans
Over the next week, I need to finish the finishing touches on my YouTube episode for release next weekend. Also need to look into my scenes, alerts, and other things that I haven't touched for over a year now. Even my stream decks have been collecting dust. Also have a new product dropping on my Etsy shop, possibly two. So a nice, busy, fun week ahead, and I'm looking forward to it. It's been nice being happy and productive again.
Final Conclusions
Like a sloth, slowly, I will be making progress this year on all the things I want. Some weeks, the progress will make bigger leaps, while others will be a little slower, depending on what other work I have for that week. I am happy and excited to get this blog out! I stuck to my plan of a weekly blog, and now I will continue this weekly for the rest of the year. I look forward to this time next year and to seeing the progress I make when I stick to these posts! I won't lie, though, I did wait till the very last minute of Sunday night to write this to be posted on Monday, so I still have some work to do on the procrastination front. But I am putting in the work, no more excuses or not getting these blogs posted. See you all next week for another exciting episode of "What's going on in Aveege's Mind."
Thank you for taking the time and reading this blog!
